Games Like Candy Crush: 8 Match-3 Games That Actually Play in the Browser

Free browser match-3 is a minefield of app-store redirects — most 'play Candy Crush online' pages, including King's own, now funnel you toward an app download, so we rejected them. Microsoft Jewel is our top pick: a polished Bejeweled-style swapper that genuinely plays on its MSN Zone page and answered our check in 273 milliseconds. Arkadium's Jewel Shuffle, Sweet Shuffle and Bubble Dragons, plus Candy Riddles, Match Arena, Fruita Crush and the classic Bubble Shooter complete the eight. All 8 confirmed loading by our automated check on July 8, 2026; hand-replays in progress. Every one is free, in-browser, with no install.

The picks, ranked

  1. Microsoft Jewel

    Play →

Big-publisher gem swapping that actually stays in the browser.

Microsoft Casual Games' Bejeweled-style match-3 on the MSN Zone: swap adjacent gems to line up three or more, with cascades, special jewels and level goals. It is one of the few polished, big-publisher match-3 games that still plays directly in the browser — free with ads, no app-store redirect, no download, no account required.

  2. Jewel Shuffle

    Play →

The most faithful free Bejeweled stand-in from a veteran casual studio.

Arkadium's gem-swapping match-3, pitched by the studio itself as 'built for Bejeweled lovers': classic swap mechanics, cascading combos and power-up jewels across endless levels. Arkadium is the casual-games studio whose titles power portals like MSN and AARP, and this one plays instantly on their own site — free, browser-only, no downloads necessary.

  3. Sweet Shuffle

    Play →

Candy Crush's look and feel without the app store detour.

Arkadium's candy-themed match-3 and the closest visual stand-in for Candy Crush that runs entirely in the browser: mix and match colorful candies, trigger cascades and chase level goals. The studio's own description promises instant online play 'with no downloads needed' — and unlike most candy-themed match-3 pages, it delivers exactly that, free with ads.

  4. Candy Riddles

    Play →

Candy Crush-style level map and boosters as a pure HTML5 game.

A level-based sweets match-3 hosted on CrazyGames: match cookies, donuts and ice creams to clear objectives, earn boosters and progress along a level map — the classic Candy Crush loop, but as an HTML5 game that runs free in the browser tab. CrazyGames describes it as 'bursting with tasty-looking, mouth-watering sweets'; no install or account is needed.

  5. Match Arena

    Play →

Combo-focused swap-matching served straight from the Poki page.

A vibrant match-3 on Poki: swap tiles to match colorful shapes, trigger combos and clear each board's objectives, with progression through increasingly tricky levels. Poki's description highlights strategizing your moves and combo chains; the game loads as HTML5 directly on the page, free in the browser with no app download required to play.

  6. Fruita Crush

    Play →

Lightweight fruit matching straight from the developer's HTML5 host.

Famobi's fruit-themed match-3, served from the developer's own play.famobi.com host: swap fruits to match three or more, clear juice-themed objectives and advance along a level map with boosters. It is a clean HTML5 build with touch and mouse controls that loads in a couple of seconds, free in the browser with no signup and no app redirect.

  7. Bubble Dragons

    Play →

Match-3 by aiming a cannon — bubble shooting instead of tile swapping.

Arkadium's bubble shooter: aim and fire bubbles to make groups of three or more of a color, popping them to rescue the dragons hatching in the level. It is match-3 logic delivered by cannon rather than by swapping, and like Arkadium's other titles it plays instantly on their site — free online with no downloads or installs needed.

  8. Bubble Shooter

    Play →

The original time-killer: pure pop-three bubble clearing since the Flash era.

The evergreen classic at bubbleshooter.net: fire colored bubbles up the board, connect three or more of the same color to pop them, and clear the field before the rows creep down. One of the longest-lived free browser games on the web, it loads in well under a second and needs no signup, no download and no tutorial.

Frequently asked questions

Can I play Candy Crush itself in a browser?

Not anymore. When our automated check followed King's Candy Crush page on July 8, 2026, it landed on candycrush.com — a marketing page steering you to app downloads, not a playable web game. King retired browser play, so Candy Crush is not on a list of browser games.

What else did you reject, and why?

Aggressively, because this niche is redirect-poisoned: Royal Match, Homescapes and Fishdom are app-only; the old AARP Bejeweled 3 page returned 404; Jewel Academy on Poki and Jewels Blitz and Forest Match on CrazyGames have been delisted — their URLs now 404 or bounce to category pages. If a page could not be played where it loaded, it did not make the list.

Why do most entries live on portals like Arkadium, MSN Zone, CrazyGames and Poki?

Because the official web versions are mostly gone — EA retired Bejeweled's web homes and King retired Candy Crush's. Casual portals are where genuinely browser-playable match-3 survives, and Arkadium and Microsoft Casual Games build theirs as first-party HTML5 games.

Are these games really free?

Yes. All eight play free in the browser, supported by ads; some sell optional boosters. None of the core games sat behind a payment, forced signup or app install as of our July 8, 2026 check.
